Hi there! I’m Emily and I’m a sophomore chemical engineering major. This blog is to here to help share my passion for running and health. In college, finding the balance between health and fun is often hard.  I’ve always been an active person, but my diet used to consist of lots of sweets and far too many snacks. My freshman year of college I gained about 5 pounds and lost a ton of muscle, leaving me feeling out of shape and overall just unhealthy. When I got home for summer I knew things had to change. I adopted a no added sugar diet for a few weeks and after that I really kept my added sugars to a minimum. I only ate whole grains, especially oatmeal, cut out sweets, and added lots of protein. Along with training for a half marathon and working out with my trainer twice a week, I lost about ten pounds and felt like I was in the best shape of my life. I maintained this weight loss and even lost a few more pounds first semester of this year, but after indulging in lots of holiday binges I’m worried I’m headed back on the track of where I was my freshman year. I’m starting this blog to hold me accountable and help me maintain the body that I’ve worked to hard to create!
